Honda believes sweat, sportsmanship, teamwork and perhaps most importantly having fun are things kids in all communities deserve. As such, they have been the proud partner of Little League Baseball and Softball for the last 15 years.
In that time, Honda has worked with the Urban Initiative, the organization responsible for spearheading the Little League Baseball and Softball program, aiming to bring the benefits of the game (i.e., commitment, self-esteem, dedication to self and team, etc.) to kids in urban communities across America. Through their ties with the Urban Initiative, Honda has given a total of approximately $800,000 to the cause, and positively impacted the lives of tens-of-thousands of Little League Baseball and Softball players. This year's donation went to repairing and updating select communities' playing fields.
Sunset Honda would also like to note that Honda does more than contribute funds to the Little League Baseball and Softball program. They raise awareness about it. For example, last year, the Japanese automaker hosted the 2011 Honda Double Play Giveaway, in which they invited Little League fans to submit pin designs. The two winning entrants were then awarded $5,000 in funds to give to the qualifying Little League team of their choice.
Such efforts represent the giving core of Honda. Kids from the inner cities see it by enjoying what we would likely take for granted - a simple game of ball. And drivers like us see it too, through the standard technologies they include in their models - technologies that go above and beyond their competitors'.
Stay tuned to learn even more about Honda's generous ways. Sunset Honda is committed to keeping you current on everything from corporate giving to new Honda model launches.
