Your Honda Love Story

It was 2003. I had been without a car for about six months, and I was anxious to own a car again. On that spring day, I walked around the car lot looking for what I had envisioned as the perfect car. Of course, looking for the perfect car when you want a car right away and are looking for one that is used is easier said than done. I walked all around that lot with my dad. There were a few cars that were nice, but they weren't perfect, and I am stubborn. I knew I wanted a Honda Civic. I wanted four doors. And I wanted it to be black, or at least a darker color. I liked the idea of a stick shift because it got better gas mileage (I am pretty sure gas was $1.10 back then. Anywayâ??). We were getting ready to leave, my teenage self slightly disappointed, when the salesman asked if there was anything in particular we were looking for. Why, yes, actually, we were looking for something! Something very specific. My I-have-my-mind-set-on-this-exact-car-and-I-will-not-settle-for-anything-else something specific. When I told him what I wanted, he said, â??Well, we just had one of those come in, and it hasn't even been put on the lot yet!â?° I was pretty much sold right then and there, but, of course, my ever-so-smart father said we had to take it to our mechanic to have it checked out. For having a fair amount of miles, the car was in excellent condition, as I believe most Hondas are even as they â??age.â?° Sold. She was now mine. I drove her around, took care of her, showed her off to everyone I knew. I loved my new car! I was so excited about her that I decided late one night to drive her up north so I could study with some friends while also showing off my new love. On my way home, tragedy happened. It was late, it was foggy, and I never saw it coming. The next thing I knew, everything was pink. My car was still moving, but I couldnâ??t see anything. When I finally realized that I had crashed, after my car had traveled a mile from the impact site, it was too late to do anything about it. The fog was so thick that I had slammed into the back of a semi-truck on the 101. My car was totaled. Everyone said I was lucky to be alive. The mechanics said that I was only alive because of the way my Honda was built to endure a crash. The front accordions, so while there was practically no front left on my car, it kept the entire front end from crushing me. That car saved my life. To this day I still miss that car. Everything about it was perfect. My in-laws also own a Honda and when my sister bought a new car last year, I begged and pleaded with her to get a Honda! She did, and now she is experiencing the same type of love that I did with my car! Not only are they reliable, economical, beautiful, and, pretty much perfect, they can also save your life. The perfect soul mate.
